3,000 Indians Join Viksit Bharat Run at Dubai's Zabeel Park
Thousands of Indian expatriates converged on Dubai's Zabeel Park on Sunday, September 27, 2026, to participate in the second edition of the Viksit Bharat Run. The massive gathering saw participants coming together to celebrate national unity and the vision of a future-ready India.
A Run for a Developed India
The event was officially flagged off by Dr. E. Vishnu Vardhan Reddy, the Consul General of India in Dubai. Organized through a collaboration between the Consulate General of India and the Indian People’s Forum (IPF), the run is a centerpiece of the 'Seva Pakhwada' campaign. This service fortnight is observed annually between Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s birthday and Gandhi Jayanti.
Jitendra Vaidya, the president of the IPF, characterized the initiative as a movement for both unity and the nation. He emphasized that the run is aimed at fostering a collective drive toward achieving the goal of a developed India by 2047, coinciding with the 100th anniversary of the country's independence.
Supporting the Indian Diaspora in the UAE
The Viksit Bharat Run is part of a broader series of community engagement efforts. With the Indian diaspora in the UAE exceeding 40 lakh people, the Consulate General has utilized the Seva Pakhwada period to roll out various welfare and educational programs, including:
- Financial and Medical Literacy: A specialized labor camp organized in partnership with the TAK Group to provide essential knowledge to workers.
- Consular Support: Enhanced access to consular helpline services.
- Legal Counseling: Free sessions designed to educate the community on critical issues such as banking fraud, cybercrime, and the misuse of Emirates IDs.
