Tragedy at Sea: Indian Seafarer Killed in Attack Near Oman Coast

A devastating maritime attack has claimed the life of a young Indian seafarer off the coast of Oman. Suraj Yadav, a 26-year-old wiper, was killed when the Antigua and Barbuda-flagged bulk carrier, MV Cape Dao, was struck by projectiles near the strategic Strait of Hormuz.

A Heartbreaking Final Farewell

The tragedy is underscored by the personal loss of a man working to build a better life. Hailing from Karmajeet Pur village in Deoria, Uttar Pradesh, Yadav had been working aboard the vessel since departing India on August 19. In a heartbreaking coincidence, he had participated in a video call with his family just one hour before the attack. During the call, he shared views of the ship and spoke enthusiastically about his dreams of constructing a home for his loved ones. Only a day prior, he had sent Rs 1,000 to his younger brother, a small but meaningful gesture of support from a son working far from home.
