The Attack on MV Cape Dao
On September 23, 2026, the Antigua and Barbuda-flagged bulk carrier MV Cape Dao was struck by two projectiles, identified by the Forward Seamen's Union of India (FSUI) as torpedoes. The incident occurred at approximately 0630 UTC, roughly 2.5 nautical miles off the coast of Musandam.
The vessel, which was traveling from Mina Saqr in the UAE toward India, suffered significant damage during the strike. The impact triggered intense fires within the engine room and the C-deck accommodation areas. The 2002-built bulker, which is managed in the UAE, remains in Omani custody as authorities coordinate the necessary response.
