Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque Introduces New Entry Fees for Sightseeing
The Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque Centre in Abu Dhabi has announced a significant change to its visitor policy, introducing an entry fee structure for sightseeing for the first time. This new measure is designed to help sustain and support the high level of services provided to the landmark's millions of annual visitors.
New Pricing Tiers for Visitors
Under the updated policy, the cost of entry will depend on the visitor's residency status and the type of visit. The following fees are now in effect:
- UAE Residents: Dh5 per person (a valid Emirates ID must be presented).
- Tourists and International Visitors: Dh10 per person.
- Organized Tour Groups: Dh8 per person for groups arranged through operators.
It is important to note that worship remains free of charge. Individuals attending daily or Friday prayers, or participating in religious activities, can continue to enter at no cost via a dedicated entrance.
Exemptions and Special Access
The Centre has maintained several exemptions to ensure accessibility. The following groups are not required to pay the new sightseeing fees:
- People of Determination.
- Children under the age of 3.
- Individuals aged 60 and above.
Mandatory Advance Booking Required
To better manage the flow of people through the site, the Centre has changed its admission process. Walk-in sightseeing is no longer guaranteed. All visitors intending to sightsee must now book their tickets in advance through the official website at szgmc.gov.ae. Bookings can be made up to one month prior to the intended visit.
Visiting Hours and Cultural Tours
The mosque remains open to visitors during the following hours:
