Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque Announces New Entry Fees for Sightseeing Visitors
The iconic Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque in Abu Dhabi has implemented a new entry fee structure for those visiting the landmark for sightseeing. The Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque Centre (SZGMC) has updated its policy to include specific rates for different visitor categories, ranging from local residents to international tourists.
New Pricing Structure for Sightseeing
Under the updated regulations, the cost of entry will depend on the visitor's residency status and method of arrival. The new rates are as follows:
- UAE Residents: AED 5 per person (valid Emirates ID required).
- International Tourists: AED 10 per person.
- Tour Groups: AED 8 per person for those arriving via licensed tour operators.
Exemptions and Free Access
While sightseeing now carries a fee, the mosque continues to provide free access to several specific groups. Entry remains free of charge for:
- Individuals aged 60 and older.
- Children under the age of 3.
- People of determination.
- Muslim Worshippers: Those visiting the facility for daily prayers, Friday prayers, or other acts of worship can continue to access the mosque for free via designated separate pathways at all times.
Premium Experiences and Guided Tours
Visitors looking to enhance their experience can opt for several paid services. While standard cultural tours—which focus on Islamic art and architecture and last between 30 to 45 minutes—remain free, the following add-ons are available:
- Guided Tour of the Main Prayer Hall: AED 30 (available outside of prayer times).
- Light & Peace Museum: AED 25.
- Diya 360-degree Experience: AED 25.
- Combined Ticket: AED 40 (includes both the Museum and the Diya experience).
