The Sharjah community has been shaken by the gruesome discovery of 46-year-old Alvin Prakash Kundar, an Indian expatriate who had lived and worked in the UAE for 14 years. His remains were found in a chilling state on August 12, hidden inside the trunk of his own Toyota vehicle on a route leading toward the Oman border.
A Gruesome Scene on the Road to Oman
The discovery was nothing short of horrific. According to reports from the victim's family, Kundar's body had been dismembered into nine separate pieces and packed into two bags within his car. The victim, a resident of Kundapur, Udupi, in Karnataka, showed signs of a violent struggle, with knife wounds identified on his chest. His identity was eventually confirmed through DNA matching.
Suspicious Messages and Passport Discrepancies
The circumstances surrounding Kundar's death have raised significant red flags for his relatives in India. The timeline of his disappearance suggests a series of highly suspicious events:
- Last Contact: His family last spoke to him around July 20, primarily through voice messages.
- Uncharacteristic Texts: Following the last voice contact, a typed text message was sent from his phone claiming he was merely resting—a habit his family noted was entirely unlike him.
- The Travel Mystery: While his employer's HR department initially suggested he had returned to India, official passport movement records revealed that he had never actually departed the UAE.
Missing Family Members and CCTV Leads
As the investigation unfolds, the whereabouts of Kundar's immediate family remain a central mystery. His wife, Tina Kundar, who was employed at a school in the UAE, and their teenage son, a 10th-grade student in Dubai, are currently unreachable.
The family has raised concerns regarding security footage from their apartment, alleging that CCTV footage captured individuals moving luggage around the time of the disappearance. However, it is important to note that UAE authorities have not officially named the wife or son as suspects, nor have they released a formal motive for the crime.
