Sharjah Horror: Expat Dismembered; Wife and Son Missing
A gruesome discovery in Sharjah has sent shockwaves through the expatriate community after a 38-year-old man was found murdered, his body dismembered into nine pieces. Alwin Prakash Kunder, a long-term resident from Kundapur, Karnataka, who had worked at Sharjah Airport for approximately 14 years, was the victim of this horrific crime. Adding to the tragedy, his wife and teenage son have also disappeared under mysterious circumstances.
A Trail of Suspicious Messages
The disappearance of Alwin Kunder began to raise alarms in July 2026, after he had last visited his hometown in December 2025. Communication with his family suddenly ceased, but on July 20, his brother, Anil Prashanth Kunder, received a text message from Alwin’s phone stating he was fine. However, the style of the message was uncharacteristic, and shortly after, the phone went silent.
When family members sought clarity, they were met with conflicting information. Staff at Kunder's company-provided residence claimed he had already returned to India. This claim was quickly debunked when a passport check revealed that Kunder had never actually exited the UAE, prompting the filing of a missing-person complaint.
The Gruesome Discovery
The investigation took a dark turn when authorities located a vehicle on a route heading toward Oman. Inside the vehicle, investigators discovered two bags containing Kunder's remains. The identity of the deceased was eventually confirmed through DNA testing conducted by the family.
Following the delivery of the post-mortem report to authorities in Udupi this past Monday, Anil Kunder has formally petitioned the Superintendent of Police to intervene and seek justice.
A Family in Limbo
While the search for Alwin continues, the fate of his family remains unknown. His wife, Tina Kunder, a schoolteacher residing in Sharjah, and their teenage son, a Class 10 student, are currently unaccounted for. Although some reports have suggested that Tina may have returned to India, her brother maintains that they cannot verify any travel records without a formal FIR being filed in India.

He is requesting that the Sharjah Police, the Indian Consulate, and the Udupi police work together to share vital investigation records, surveillance footage, and travel data to help resolve the case and facilitate the return of Kunder's remains.
