Sharjah Horror: Airport Worker Dismembered, Wife and Son Vanish
A chilling discovery on a road leading toward the Oman border has sent shockwaves through both the UAE and India. Alwin Prakash Kunder, a veteran employee at Sharjah International Airport for 14 years, was found murdered in a gruesome manner, leaving behind a trail of unanswered questions and a family in crisis.
The Gruesome Discovery
On 12 August, the remains of the Kundapur native were discovered inside his Toyota vehicle. The scene was harrowing; Kunder's body had been dismembered into nine pieces and stuffed into two bags. Forensic reports indicated that the victim had sustained two stab wounds to the chest prior to the dismemberment. Due to the state of the remains, identity could only be confirmed through DNA testing conducted on his elder son.
A Trail of Deception
Investigators are looking into a series of suspicious communications that may have been intended to mask the crime. Around 20 July 2026, Kunder's brother, Anil Prashanth Kunder, received a text message stating that Alwin was "fine." It is now widely believed that this message was sent by an imposter to provide a false sense of security.
Adding to the confusion, while colleagues in Sharjah initially believed Kunder had already returned to India, official passport records revealed that he had never actually exited the UAE.
A Family in Peril
While Kunder's body has been repatriated to Karnataka for funeral services at the Protestant CSI Krupa Church following prayers at his family home, a secondary tragedy is unfolding. Kunder's wife, schoolteacher Tina Kundar, and their school-going son have been missing since the incident came to light. Their current whereabouts remain unknown, leaving the family and community in a state of profound uncertainty.
The Investigation Status
The investigation is currently moving through several channels as authorities attempt to piece together the motive and identify the culprits:
- Sharjah Police: Have not yet publicly named any suspects or established a motive for the killing.
- Legal Hurdles: While the family has been issued a death certificate, they report that they have not yet been provided with a copy of the police FIR.
- International Coordination: Udupi police are currently working in tandem with the Indian Consulate and Interpol to advance the investigation.
