Sharjah Arqoub Industrial Area Hits Major Development Milestone

The Al Hamriyah Municipality has officially announced the completion of the third phase of site preparation at the Arqoub Industrial Area in Sharjah. This development marks a significant step forward in the ongoing efforts to enhance the infrastructure and operational efficiency of the industrial zone.
Infrastructure Upgrades and Site Preparation
The recent works, concluded on October 4, 2026, were designed to address fundamental ground-level requirements within the area. The project focused on several key technical tasks to prepare the site for future use, including:
- Grading and leveling: The smoothing and leveling of unpaved roads to improve accessibility.
- Land maintenance: The upkeep and management of various plots and open land areas.
- Debris clearance: The removal of accumulated debris and agricultural waste that had previously cluttered the site.
To ensure the integrity of local utility networks, the operation was carried out in close coordination with the Planning and Survey Department, the Sharjah Electricity, Water and Gas Authority (SEWA), and the Federal Electricity and Water Authority (FEWA). This collaboration was essential to protect existing electricity, water, and gas service routes during the heavy groundworks.
A Long-Term Vision for Sharjah’s Industry
Mubarak Rashid Al Shamsi, Director of Al Hamriyah Municipality, stated that this phase is a core component of a long-term development plan aimed at modernizing the industrial zone. He confirmed that the municipality will continue to roll out subsequent phases according to the approved project schedule.
Al Shamsi also expressed his gratitude to the SEWA utility teams for their seamless coordination, which ensured that vital service infrastructures remained safe throughout the site preparation process.
Impact on Logistics and Expat Workers
The Arqoub Industrial Area is a vital economic hub, housing a wide range of workshops, warehouses, and trading yards. The zone is a major employment center for a large expatriate workforce, including many workers from India, Pakistan, and Bangladesh.
In the past, the area has faced logistical hurdles, such as excessive road dust and debris, which have complicated vehicle loading processes and impacted the timelines for connecting new utility services. While this specific phase focused on ground preparation rather than the installation of new road paving or the introduction of new fees, it provides the necessary foundation to resolve these historical challenges.
Location and Important Notices
Strategically positioned between Sheikh Zayed Road, E311, and E611, the industrial zone offers significant long-term opportunities, including 99-year leasehold options for expatriates looking to establish a presence in the region.
