84 Detained in Major Saudi Night Raids in Al-Khobar

Security forces in Al-Khobar, Saudi Arabia, conducted a series of intensive night raids to crack down on residency and labor law violations, resulting in the detention of 84 individuals during a massive Saudi residency raids Al-Khobar operation.
Coordinated Midnight Crackdown
The operation, which commenced at 8:30 p.m., spanned approximately four hours and targeted several key neighborhoods, including Al-Thuqbah, Al-Aqrabiyah, and Al-Khobar Ash-Shamaliyah. To ensure the effectiveness of the inspections, authorities established checkpoints at various entry and exit points throughout these residential areas.
The massive enforcement effort involved a multi-agency task force, including:
- Security patrols
- The Special Tasks and Duties Force
- Representatives from the Committee for the Promotion of Virtue and the Prevention of Vice
- Municipal authorities (Baldia)
- The Labor Office
Violations and Penalties
According to reports from the Dammam desk of the Watniyat newspaper, the raids were highly successful in identifying those operating outside the law. Beyond the 84 individuals detained for residency and work system violations, the authorities also issued 17 traffic citations and dismantled 8 illegal stalls (basatat).
The detainees have been transferred to the relevant authorities for legal processing. They now face potential deportation procedures through the Jawazat and the Labor Office.
High Risks for Expatriates and Employers
The targeted neighborhoods, particularly Al-Thuqbah and Al-Aqrabiyah, are known for their high concentrations of expatriate residents, including nationals from India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, and the Philippines.
Authorities have issued a stern warning regarding the consequences of violating these laws. The Ministry of Interior maintains extremely strict penalties for anyone found harboring, transporting, employing, or assisting residency or border law violators. These penalties can include:
- Up to 15 years in prison
- Fines reaching as high as 1 million riyals
- Confiscation of property or vehicles used in the commission of the offense
