SalamAir Launches Direct Flights To Calicut From Salalah Base

Discover amazing direct flights with Oman low-cost airline SalamAir as they set up their first permanent base in Salalah and launch new international routes starting late October 2026.
- SalamAir opens its first permanent airline base in Salalah, Dhofar.
- New direct international services launched to Jeddah, Chattogram, and Calicut.
- Bookings are open now with operations starting at the end of October 2026 for the Winter 2026 schedule.
New Routes And Booking Details
The official announcement was made on August 26, 2026, confirming that bookings for these new routes are currently open, with operations scheduled to commence at the end of October 2026 as part of the Winter 2026 schedule. For expatriates residing in the Dhofar region, particularly those from Kerala, India, this new service aims to eliminate the current reliance on connecting flights through Muscat. The direct connection is expected to benefit travelers heading to Kozhikode, Malappuram, Kannur, Wayanad, and other parts of northern Kerala by reducing travel time and connection risks. While booking is live via the airline official website, mobile application, and authorized travel partners, specific details regarding weekly frequency, operating days, and flight timings have not yet been finalized. Passengers are advised to verify that their flight booking shows a non-stop or direct status between Salalah and Calicut.
Fleet And Additional Services
SalamAir will utilize its fleet of Airbus A320neo and Airbus A321neo aircraft for these routes. Currently, the airline operates 18 aircraft serving over 40 destinations with more than 90 daily flights across the Middle East, Africa, Asia, and Europe. The new Salalah base is part of a broader strategy to ensure year-round connectivity for the Dhofar region beyond the peak Khareef season. During the 2026 Khareef season, the airline had increased capacity on the Muscat-Salalah route to 15 daily flights. Travelers are encouraged to review total fare costs, including baggage allowances, seat selection, and meal bundles, rather than base fares alone. In addition to the Calicut route, SalamAir will provide direct connectivity to Jeddah and Chattogram, and will operate charter services from Salalah to Astana and Almaty in Kazakhstan during the winter season. Passengers are urged to check their booking status and flight timings on the airline official channels prior to departure to account for any potential operational adjustments.
