New Parking System Starts in Riyadh Neighborhood
Riyadh Parking will start a new managed residential parking system in the Al-Nakheel neighborhood of Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, starting Sunday, September 13, 2026.
- This is the 18th residential area to adopt the system.
- Eligible residents can apply for a free, one-year residential parking permit via the Riyadh Parking app.

Residential Parking Permits
This move joins other areas including Al-Wurud, Al-Rahmaniyah, Al-Muruj, Al-Olaya, Al-Sulaimania, Al-Mohammadiyah, King Abdullah, King Salman, Al-Masif, Al-Mursalat, Al-Quds, King Fahd, Al-Maathar Al-Shamali, Al-Mughrizat, Al-Nuzha, Al-Taawun, and Al-Ezdihar. Eligible residents in Al-Nakheel can now apply for a free, one-year residential parking permit via the Riyadh Parking app. There is no upper limit on the number of vehicles a resident may register, provided they have a valid, updated national address. The application process requires precise entry of vehicle plate details—including type, number, and letters—as monitoring cameras will use automated license plate recognition to verify permits. First-degree relatives, including parents and children, may also obtain residential permits by registering the address as an additional location on their national address.
Visitor Permit Options
For visitors, the system offers two permit options. A General Invitation Permit is valid for up to 24 hours and does not require specific vehicle details, suitable for short visits or deliveries. A Special Invitation Permit is valid for up to three days, covers up to 20 vehicles, and requires vehicle information, ideal for family gatherings. Notably, national IDs are not required to generate visitor permits.
Fines and Support
To ensure a smooth transition, Riyadh Parking will initiate an awareness phase involving warning messages for unregistered vehicles before issuing fines. Residents are advised to verify their credentials through the Riyadh Parking app and avoid relying on unverified social media reports regarding fine amounts. Support for inquiries is available through the Riyadh Municipality's unified number, 940. The wider initiative aims to regulate over 24,000 commercial on-street spaces and 140,000 residential spaces across the city.
