With over 800,000 Indians residing in Qatar, the service aims to assist workers and low-to-middle income employees in sending funds directly to a recipient's UPI-linked bank account without requiring collection at an exchange house or post office. Users can send a minimum of QR10 and a maximum of QR4,000 per transaction, subject to a maximum Indian limit equivalent to ₹1 lakh. A flat service fee of QR15 applies to every transaction, regardless of the amount.

How to Send Money

To initiate a transfer, senders must visit a participating Qatar Post outlet and provide the beneficiary's verified UPI ID, customer identification details, and potentially the mobile number linked to the UPI account. Transactions are processed in real-time or within minutes. It is a strict requirement that the beneficiary in India has the foreign inward remittance facility enabled within their UPI app. Senders are advised to verify exchange rates, which are based on prevailing market conditions, against existing exchange houses or apps.

Branch Access and Important Tips

Physical cash payments can be made at Qatar Post branches, which is intended to assist workers without credit cards or mobile banking access. Qatar Post operates 18 branches, including those in industrial and residential areas. Sandeep Kumar, Chargé d'Affaires at the Indian Embassy in Qatar, noted the importance of this channel for workers sending funds for household, educational, and medical expenses. Users are advised to confirm the beneficiary's active UPI ID and bank linkage before initiating transfers. In case of delays or issues, the transaction receipt provided by Qatar Post is essential for tracking and complaints. Senders should verify the UPI ID character-by-character, ensure foreign inward remittance is enabled, compare the exchange rate and the QR15 fee, confirm bank linkage, and retain the receipt until credit is confirmed.
