Doha, September 7, 2026: The Ministry of Endowments and Islamic Affairs in Qatar has announced that registration for the Hajj 2027 (1448 Hijri) season will open on September 20, 2026, at midnight and remain active until October 20, 2026. Applications must be submitted exclusively through the official portal, hajj.gov.qa. Qatar has set a total Hajj quota of 4,400 pilgrims for the upcoming season, with no separate quota designated specifically for Indian residents.
- Registration opens September 20, 2026, at midnight and closes October 20, 2026.
- Applications are submitted only at hajj.gov.qa.
- Total Hajj quota is 4,400 pilgrims with no separate Indian resident quota.
For non-Qatari residents, including Indian expatriates,
eligibility criteria are strict. Applicants must be
at least 45 years old, possess
at least 15 years of continuous residency in Qatar, and
must not have performed Hajj previously. Additionally, holding a
valid Qatar ID and up-to-date health records is required. Unlike Qatari citizens, who may include up to three companions in an application, resident applicants are
permitted only one accompanying person, whose details must be included in the initial application to avoid processing complications.
Securing a medical fitness certificate is a
mandatory first step before registration. Applicants may obtain this assessment at their registered Primary Health Care Corporation (PHCC) health center. The service is free for those with a valid health card; residents with expired cards must pay a fee of QR30. Medical assessment results are uploaded to the electronic system to allow for eligibility verification against Saudi Arabia's health standards.
Following the October 20 registration deadline,
successful applicants will be notified via SMS starting in late October. Upon acceptance, pilgrims must complete an online contracting process with a licensed Hajj operator. While an advance payment—which will be adjusted against the final package cost—is required, the Ministry has
warned against paying unofficial agents, noting that official details and campaign lists are available only on the official portal. For further inquiries, residents may contact the Department of Hajj and Umrah Affairs hotline at 132.
