The Supreme Judiciary Council (SJC) of Qatar has announced that its WhatsApp-based Virtual Employee system has successfully processed 12,136 electronic transactions between July 1, 2025, and August 31, 2026. In August 2026 alone, the service handled 1,147 transactions. This digital facility, accessible via WhatsApp number 44597777, is particularly significant for Qatar's 8.3 lakh Indian residents, providing easier access to judicial services.

The Virtual Employee system allows users to obtain case status updates, copies of judgments, case summaries, records of hearing proceedings, and upcoming hearing dates. Users can also submit legal memoranda electronically.
To ensure privacy and security, the system operates based on mobile numbers registered with the user's National Address. Users are advised to have their Qatar ID, registered mobile number, and case details ready for requests and to avoid sharing sensitive documents or banking information with unauthorized accounts.
Beyond the WhatsApp service, Qatar has seen growth in broader digital judicial efforts. In the first quarter of 2026, 5,052 cases were processed via video-conferencing, and 777 new cases were electronically registered. During 2025, the court portal and mobile application recorded 109,981 requests, while the Family Documentation Department processed 65,264 electronic services.
While these digital channels reduce the need for physical visits to court premises, the SJC notes that certain procedures still require personal appearance or original document verification as per court mandates.
