Oman has signed an agreement to bring in 10,000 workers from Bangladesh to work in farming and fishing. Foreign Minister Shama Bad Islam announced this plan after meeting with an Omani delegation in Dhaka led by Al Sayyid Muhammad Salim Ali Al Said.

An official team from Oman will visit Dhaka next month to complete the hiring process. They will work together with the Ministry of Expatriates' Welfare and Overseas Employment. At the same time, the Bangladeshi government is asking Oman to restart visa services that were stopped during the last Awami League government.
Oman has rules called Omanization that reduce foreign workers in management and IT jobs. However, farming and fishing still do not have enough workers. Because of this labor shortage, Oman needs to hire more people. The 5,000 jobs for farmers follow the current rules set by the Omani Agricultural Association.
