Intense heat is continuing to batter Oman well into the second half of September, with temperatures soaring to dangerous levels. According to the latest weather monitoring data from the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA), Al Sunainah and Hamra Al Duru recorded a staggering 45.1°C over the last 24 hours.
Extreme Temperatures Across the Sultanate
Despite the official peak of the summer season having passed, inland areas are still facing punishing daytime highs ranging between 42°C and 45°C. Official station readings as of Monday, September 21, highlight a widespread heatwave across several regions:
- Fahud: 44.6°C
- Ibri: 44.2°C
- Al Buraimi: 44.0°C
- Muqshin: 43.3°C
- Bahla: 43.2°C
- Nizwa: 43.0°C
- Izki: 42.8°C
- Dima W'attayeen: 42.6°C
- Umm Al Zamaim: 42.4°C
Critical Safety Warnings for Outdoor Workers
This extreme thermal stress presents a major hazard to the vast workforce engaged in essential sectors. Those working in construction, road and infrastructure maintenance, logistics, delivery services, industrial sites, and oilfield support are at particularly high risk.
While the seasonal regulation prohibiting work in direct sunlight between 12:30 PM and 3:30 PM applied specifically to the months of June, July, and August, authorities warn that the danger has not subsided. Heat risks remain severe, especially in inland territories such as Ibri, Fahud, Nizwa, and Al Buraimi.
