The Royal Oman Police (ROP) has launched legal proceedings following the circulation of two viral videos on social media. The footage, which surfaced in Muscat, depicts expatriates throwing banknotes at government employees while they were performing their official duties.
The Investigation: Distinguishing Fact from Fiction
Authorities have conducted a detailed investigation into the clips to determine the nature of the incidents. The findings have revealed a significant difference between the two recordings:
- The First Video: This clip captured a genuine incident where an expatriate was seen throwing money at a male official.
- The Second Video: This recording, which featured a female worker, was determined to be a staged awareness scene. This was confirmed through witness testimony and statements provided by the female employee involved.
Despite the staged nature of the second clip, the ROP has confirmed that legal action is being taken against all individuals involved in the production and the subsequent sharing of these videos.
