Muscat Municipality has confirmed that construction is in full swing for a new residential park in Al Maabela Phase 2, located in the Wilayat of Seeb. The project, part of a broader neighborhood development program, is set to cover a total area of 10,202 square meters.

  • Landscaped green spaces equipped with irrigation systems
  • Dedicated play areas for children
  • Walking paths and seating areas

  • Modern lighting for evening use

Infrastructure Expansion and Project History

The current project scale of 10,202 square meters marks a slight increase from the initial 10,091 square meter estimate provided in the municipality’s January tender documents. This specific contract was one of seven park projects awarded following an internal tender committee meeting chaired by Eng. Ahmed bin Saeed Al Amri in early 2026.

Recent photographic evidence shows that work is progressing steadily, with paved pathways and the construction of the service building currently visible on-site.

Serving a Diverse Population

While an official opening date has not been set, the park is expected to become a vital hub for the local community. It will serve a significant population of expatriate families, including Indian, Bangladeshi, and Pakistani residents, as well as those traveling near the Sultan Haitham City corridor.

Mixed Public Reaction

The announcement has sparked varied responses on social media platforms like X. While many residents have expressed excitement about the new community space, others have raised concerns regarding existing infrastructure gaps in Al Maabela. Some locals pointed out that several inner streets in the neighborhood still require proper asphalt paving and improved street lighting.
