Kuwait Opens New Sabah Al-Nasser Bridge Routes to Ease Traffic

Commuters in Kuwait can expect smoother journeys following the official opening of new routes and roundabouts at the Sabah Al-Nasser Bridge project. The Ministry of Public Works activated the new infrastructure at 4:00 AM on October 15, 2026, aiming to resolve long-standing congestion issues.
Strategic Infrastructure Upgrades
The project is specifically designed to enhance the flow of vehicles between the Sixth Ring Road and several key residential districts, including Sabah Al-Nasser, Al-Masila, and Kabd. Prior to the launch, the Minister of Public Works, Dr. Noura Al-Mashaan, conducted a site inspection to ensure all road elements were fully prepared for public use.
The newly inaugurated sections include:
- A new service road: Running parallel to the Sixth Ring Road, providing direct access toward Al-Masila.
- The southwest roundabout: Facilitating movement for vehicles traveling from Road 604 toward Kabd, connecting them seamlessly to the Sixth Ring Road.
- The southeast roundabout: Managing traffic moving from the Al-Masila direction of the Sixth Ring Road toward the Sabah Al-Nasser area.
Ending a 12-Year Delay
This development marks the end of a long wait for local residents. The Sabah Al-Nasser Bridge project had been stalled for approximately 12 years before being revived to expand the road network's capacity and address the growing density of the region.
This opening follows a previous phase of the project that saw other segments launched in August 2026, representing a continuous effort by the Ministry to modernize the country's transport links.
Impact on Local Residents and Expats
The new routes are expected to provide significant relief during peak commuting hours. The improved connectivity is particularly beneficial for the large number of expatriates, including the Indian community, who reside in the Sabah Al-Nasser area and travel through these corridors daily.
