Kuwait Mandates Timely Pay for All Expats

The Kuwaiti government has launched a major enforcement drive to ensure that all workers receive their Kuwait expat salary payments on time and without discrimination. Sheikh Fahad Al-Yousef, the First Deputy Prime Minister and Interior Minister, has issued a stern directive to private sector employers, demanding that every employee be compensated fairly regardless of their nationality.

Massive Crackdown on Wage Violators

The directive follows an intensive period of monitoring and enforcement led by the Interior Ministry and the Public Authority of Manpower (PAM) between October 22 and October 25, 2026. During this window, authorities identified widespread failures in adhering to labor regulations.

In a significant move to enforce compliance, authorities have already suspended the files of more than 8,000 companies found to be in violation of wage payment rules. This administrative action aims to curb systemic issues within the labor market that have historically left many workers vulnerable.

"Every human being working for you, regardless of nationality, deserves to be treated fairly."

Protecting Vulnerable Workers

The government's initiative is specifically designed to mitigate financial hardship among the foreign workforce, which includes a significant Indian expatriate population. As living costs continue to rise, the timely receipt of wages has become a critical necessity for millions of residents.

By strengthening the wage protection system, the Kuwaiti government also seeks to prevent potential reputational damage to the nation on the international stage.

Strict Penalties for Non-Compliance

The Ministry of Interior has made it clear that the crackdown will continue. Non-compliant firms are facing increasingly severe consequences to ensure total adherence to fair payment standards, including:

  • Continued suspension of business files
  • Severe legal action against employers
  • Rigorous monitoring of all labor practices
