Kuwait Gives 8700 Palestinians 3 Months to Update Residency Docs

The General Department of Residency Affairs in Kuwait has started a mandatory process for about 8,700 Palestinian residents. They must transfer their residency from traditional travel documents to official Palestinian Authority passports. Notifications are being sent through the government Sahel app.

  • Affected residents must visit the Palestinian Embassy in Kuwait for a formal passport.
  • Residency status must be transferred or renewed using the new passport.
  • Palestinian Ambassador Rami Tahboub confirmed a three-month window to finish the transfer.

Passport Updates and Embassy Help

The directive applies to current travel-document holders and those who already have PA passports. The embassy is working with the Palestinian Ministry of Interior in Ramallah to speed up passport issuance. Officials are also making a plan to print Palestinian passports directly at the embassy in Kuwait in about one week.

Important Deadlines and Rules

This update is meant to fix past problems with travel documents that made international travel, residency renewals, and work hard. Authorities warned that not finishing the transfer in three months can cause legal status problems in Kuwait.
