Kuwait Army to Hold Live-Fire Drills at Al-Abraq Range

The Kuwait Army has announced that it will conduct live-ammunition firing exercises at the designated Al-Abraq shooting range. The drills are scheduled to take place on Wednesday, October 7, and Thursday, October 8, 2026.
The Directorate of Moral Guidance and Public Relations confirmed that the firing operations will occur daily between 8:00 am and 2:00 pm. To ensure the safety of the public, authorities have issued a strict warning for anyone operating in the vicinity of the training zone.
Safety Advisory for Campers and Herders
The military has issued a safety precaution specifically targeting desert visitors, weekend campers, and herders. Because the exercises involve live ammunition, the public is urged to avoid the Al-Abraq area entirely during the specified hours.
To prevent any risk to life, the following instructions have been issued:
- Relocate Camps: Individuals currently camping in the western desert are advised to move their sites before the 8:00 am start time on the scheduled days.
- Avoid Boundaries: The public must remain clear of all marked range boundaries, military barriers, and military vehicles.
- No Proximity Camping: Residents should refrain from setting up any camps within the vicinity of the range during the operational window.
Minimal Impact on Regional Travel
The military has clarified that these restrictions are strictly confined to the Al-Abraq range belt. The exercises are not expected to impact road travel or daily activities in other regions, including:
- Farwaniya
- Hawally
- Coastal regions
While the active firing window concludes at 2:00 pm, the military emphasizes that the safety warnings remain in effect to ensure that no civilians accidentally enter the restricted military training zones.
