Kerala Youth Dies in Fujairah E-Scooter Crash Before Wedding
A 24-year-old Indian expat from Kerala died in a Fujairah e-scooter accident just weeks before his wedding. Police are investigating the fatal crash.

A tragic road accident in Fujairah has claimed the life of a 24-year-old Indian expatriate, just weeks before he was scheduled to return home for his wedding.
Reswin Rasheed Thellikunnel, who worked as a salesman at the Al Baik outlet inside Fujairah City Centre, was killed while commuting home from work. The incident was confirmed by Fujairah Police on Tuesday, October 27, 2026.
Details of the Collision
According to Fujairah Police, the accident occurred when an SUV, driven by a Gulf national woman in her 50s, struck Reswin while he was riding an electric scooter. Investigators noted that the victim was crossing the road at an undesignated location, which constituted a violation of traffic regulations.
Reswin was pronounced dead at the scene. His remains were subsequently moved to the Fujairah Hospital mortuary.
A Life and Wedding Cut Short
The sudden death has left a family in mourning. Reswin was a native of Marady in the Muvattupuzha area of Kerala's Ernakulam district. He was the son of Rasheed and Seenath, and is survived by his brother, Ramees, and his sister, Fida.
The tragedy is compounded by the fact that Reswin was preparing for a major life milestone. He had been planning to travel to India in early November to prepare for his wedding, which was scheduled to take place in late 2026. The Indian Embassy in the UAE is currently coordinating with local community groups to facilitate the repatriation of his body to Kerala.
Investigation and Safety Warnings
Following the fatal collision, the driver of the SUV was taken into custody for questioning. The case has been referred to the Public Prosecution for further investigation and potential charges.
In response to the accident, Fujairah Police have issued a formal warning to all e-scooter and bicycle users. Authorities emphasized the necessity of following safety protocols to prevent similar tragedies, specifically urging users to:
- Utilize designated crossing points when navigating roads.
- Strictly adhere to all traffic laws and regulations.
- Wear appropriate protective gear at all times.
