IRGC Seizes Second US Underwater Drone in Hormuz
The Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) Navy has announced the capture of a Remus 600 autonomous underwater vehicle, identified as belonging to the United States military. This latest maritime interception occurred on Sunday, 27 September 2026, within the critical waters of the Strait of Hormuz.
Iranian officials characterized the operation as a highly coordinated effort involving both intelligence and electronic warfare. They alleged the drone was conducting espionage activities in the region, and specialists are currently working to analyze the data retrieved from the device.
A Pattern of Seizures
This incident marks the second major underwater technology seizure in recent weeks. On 8 September, the IRGC captured an Anduril Dive-LD vehicle.
