Iran Exempts Foreigners From Key Registration Codes

The Iranian Ministry of Interior has introduced significant new guidelines aimed at easing the administrative requirements for foreign nationals residing in the country. These exemptions specifically target individuals holding Amayesh cards—primarily used by Afghan migrants—and various temporary residence permits.
Relief for Sana and Health Insurance Codes
Under the new directives, several groups will no longer be required to provide mandatory Sana electronic service codes or health insurance registration codes under specific circumstances:
- Expired Documentation: Individuals whose Amayesh or temporary cards expired on September 22, 2025, are exempt from the Sana code requirement, provided they have already initiated the renewal process.
- Vulnerable Groups: Elderly and disabled individuals who are unable to obtain a Sana code may receive exemptions following verification by provincial foreign affairs departments and service offices.
