ISB Riffa Campus Launches Free Real-Time Bus Tracking
The Indian School Bahrain (ISB) has officially rolled out a real-time school bus tracking service for its Riffa campus, offering parents a new way to monitor student commutes. Starting in October 2026, the Indian School Bahrain bus tracking feature allows families to view live locations of school vehicles via the DC Parent App.
This new digital tool is being provided at no additional cost to parents, aiming to streamline the daily pickup and drop-off routines. By providing updates on both upcoming and completed bus stops, the service helps reduce the time children spend waiting at stops and allows parents to better manage their daily schedules.
Improved Transparency and Accessibility
Binu Mannil Varghese, the Honorary Chairman of ISB, highlighted that the initiative is designed to enhance transparency within the school's transport system. He noted that the goal is to make school transport more accessible and predictable for families without imposing extra financial burdens.
The rollout comes at a time of heightened awareness regarding student transport safety in Bahrain. The school's move toward more advanced tracking technology follows previous public concerns regarding child safety in vehicles across the kingdom.
App Features and Limitations
While the DC Parent App provides live movement tracking for buses—such as Riffa Bus No. 16—it is important for parents to understand the specific scope of the technology. The current service includes:
- Live mapping of the bus route and current location.
- Visibility of upcoming and completed stops.
- Integration with the existing DC Parent App.
However, the school has clarified that the service does not include interior bus surveillance or automated notifications to alert parents the moment a child disembarks from the vehicle.
Expansion to Other Campuses
Currently, the real-time tracking is exclusive to the Riffa campus. However, ISB has indicated that there are plans to expand this service to the Isa Town campus at a later date. As of June 2026, the Indian School serves a massive student body of approximately 11,500 students across both its locations.
Riffa campus parents are encouraged to check for the update within their DC Parent App to begin utilizing the service immediately.
