Saravanan Malairaj, a 36-year-old storekeeper for a construction company in Abu Dhabi, is one of the lucky recipients. Originally from Chennai, Malairaj has been living in the UAE since 2009. His winning journey began on September 1, when he purchased ticket number 4905 through an online platform.
Upon receiving the news of his windfall at 12:15 p.m. on September 23, Malairaj expressed his excitement. As a father of four-year-old twins, his immediate priorities involve securing his children's educational future. Looking further ahead, he shared his ambitious dream of potentially opening a mall in his home state of Tamil Nadu.
A Lucky Stopover in Dubai
The second millionaire, 40-year-old Bhanu Sobhani, had a more spontaneous encounter with luck. A textile and garment factory owner who has been based in Bur Dubai for ten years, Sobhani was en route to Poland when he stopped at Concourse B of Dubai International Airport. On September 2, he purchased ticket number 0489, unaware that it would change his life.
Sobhani, who is also a father of two, was notified of his win in Series 557 at 11:30 a.m. on September 23. He intends to use the $1 million prize to invest in property and to support various charitable causes.
A Winning Streak for Indian Nationals
The success of Malairaj and Sobhani highlights a significant trend, as they become the 283rd and 284th Indian nationals to win the $1 million prize since the raffle's inception in 1999. The draw, which took place at Concourse C of Dubai International Airport, also rewarded other Indian participants with luxury prizes:
- Shailesh Kumar: An insurance manager who has been in Dubai since 2012, he won a Range Rover SE P360.
- Sajjad Siddiqui: A Riyadh-based resident who secured a BMW R12 GS motorcycle.
The results were officially confirmed on September 23, 2026, marking another massive success for the iconic Dubai Duty Free promotion.
