Double $1 Million Win for Indian Expats in Dubai Duty Free Draw
Two Indian nationals have struck gold in the latest Dubai Duty Free Millennium Millionaire draw, with both winners walking away with a life-changing US$1 million (Dh3.67 million) prize.
A Textile Mogul’s Windfall
Bhanu Sobhani, a 40-year-old textile factory owner based in Bur Dubai, is one of the fortunate jackpot winners. A resident of the UAE for 10 years, Sobhani is a father to two daughters, aged 13 and 6. His winning journey began on September 2, when he purchased ticket number 0489, Series 557, at Concourse B while traveling for business to Poland. He was officially notified of his massive win on Wednesday, September 23.
Despite already owning four villas, Sobhani has significant plans for his new wealth. He intends to diversify his fortune through property investments and fixed deposits, while also dedicating funds to support a temple in India.
From Storekeeper to Millionaire
The luck of the draw also favoured Saravanan Malairaj, a 36-year-old storekeeper living in Abu Dhabi. Having moved from Chennai 17 years ago, Malairaj has been participating in the lottery for the last six months. His winning ticket, number 4905, Series 558, was purchased online on September 1.
For Malairaj, the US$1 million prize represents a chance to build a lasting legacy in his home country, as he plans to use the funds to construct a mall in Tamil Nadu.
