Violence across the Gulf has reached a fever pitch following reported strikes on Saudi energy infrastructure and the launch of a massive military campaign in Yemen aimed at reclaiming territory from Houthi rebels.

Aramco Facility Targeted

On October 3, 2026, Houthi military spokesman Yahya Saree claimed his forces successfully targeted a Saudi Aramco facility south of Riyadh and the Khurais field area using a combination of ballistic missiles and drones.

While journalists and witnesses on the ground reported seeing large plumes of smoke and flames, the Saudi-led coalition has been quick to downplay the report. Spokesman Turki al-Maliki dismissed the Houthi claims regarding an attack on Riyadh as "misleading," and Saudi authorities have yet to confirm any direct hits or quantify specific damage to the facility.

The instability has also caused civilian casualties in other regions. In the Asir region, Saudi Civil Defence reported that debris from an intercepted ballistic missile in Ahad Rafidah injured one Asian expatriate and caused damage to several civilian vehicles and a prayer room.

Yemen War Intensifies

The regional instability is compounded by a massive escalation in the Yemeni civil war. Rashad al-Alimi, head of Yemen's Presidential Leadership Council, announced from Riyadh that the government has launched a full-scale military campaign to reclaim Houthi-held territories.
