Gambling Den Raid in Mahboula: Six Expats Face Immediate Deportation
Six Asian expatriates are facing immediate expulsion from Kuwait following a targeted crackdown on an illegal gambling operation in the Mahboula district.
A Targeted CID Operation
Acting on intelligence regarding suspicious weekend activities, detectives from the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) launched an investigation into a private residential apartment in Mahboula. After conducting surveillance to confirm the reports, officers raided the premises to dismantle what was being used as a gambling den.
During the operation, authorities apprehended six individuals, all of whom are Asian expatriates. This included one man allegedly managing the site and five others caught participating in the gambling activities. Investigators also seized KD 160 in cash, which was identified as betting funds.
Severe Legal Repercussions
Upon interrogation, the group admitted to meeting at the apartment on a weekly basis for gambling purposes. The suspects have since been transferred to the Deportation Department, where they face a series of strict administrative and legal measures, including:
- Official fingerprinting procedures.
- Issuance of administrative deportation orders.
- A potential permanent re-entry ban across all Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) member states.
Zero-Tolerance Enforcement in 2026
The raid is part of a broader security campaign throughout 2026, specifically targeting high-density expatriate areas like Mahboula and Jleeb Al-Shuyoukh. These enforcement drives have focused on various violations, ranging from illegal liquor distribution to morals offenses and large-scale money-laundering networks.
Authorities in Kuwait maintain a zero-tolerance policy toward gambling, regardless of the amount of money involved. Furthermore, expatriates are cautioned that their sponsors may also face legal repercussions if workers are found violating residency regulations or public order laws.
