The windfall is equivalent to approximately Dh3.67 million or Rs 8.3 crore.
A Five-Year Pursuit of Luck
For Sobhani, this wasn't just a sudden stroke of luck, but the result of years of persistence. He has been purchasing raffle tickets during his travels for five years. His winning moment occurred on September 2, 2024, while he was at Concourse B of Dubai International Airport (DXB), preparing for a business trip to Poland.
The winning ticket, numbered 0489 in Series 557, initially left him in a state of disbelief. After receiving the notification at 11:30 a.m. this week, the skeptic turned believer by verifying the results through the official Dubai Duty Free Facebook page.
Future Plans and Family
A resident of Dubai for a decade, Sobhani lives with his wife, mother, and two daughters, aged 13 and 6. With this newfound wealth, he has already outlined a thoughtful roadmap for his finances:
