Commuters in the UAE are preparing for a major shift in intercity travel as Etihad Rail officially opens its Al Yalayis station in Dubai on Wednesday, September 30, 2026. This milestone launch, which coincides with the commencement of operations at the Al Dhaid station in Sharjah, will provide a rapid and efficient alternative to the often-congested Sheikh Zayed Road.
Rapid Transit and Affordable Fares
The new service establishes a direct link between Dubai and the Mohammed bin Zayed City station in Abu Dhabi. Passengers can expect to complete the journey in a remarkably short window, ranging from 57 minutes to 1 hour and 4 minutes. Additionally, a route from Dubai to Fujairah is available, with an estimated travel time of approximately 1 hour and 10 minutes.
To accommodate different traveler needs, pricing has been structured as follows:
- Comfort Class: Fares starting from Dh39
- Premium Class: Fares starting from Dh109

Each train is designed to carry approximately 400 passengers, offering two distinct levels of service:

For the launch period, the service will operate five round trips daily. The first train is expected to depart Dubai between 6:14 AM and 6:15 AM, reaching Abu Dhabi by 7:18 AM. The final service from Dubai is slated to arrive in Abu Dhabi by 19:18, while the last return service from Abu Dhabi is scheduled to reach Dubai by 18:47.
