The UAE's national rail network has reached a major milestone with the official opening of the Etihad Rail Dubai station at Al Yalayis. Located in Jumeirah Golf Estates, the Al Yalayis station became operational on September 30, 2026, providing a vital new link for commuters traveling between Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Sharjah, and Fujairah.
The station's inauguration was marked by high-profile attendance. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed inaugurated the facility on September 28, 2026, during a visit that included UAE President Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed, who arrived at the site via train from Abu Dhabi.
Fast Connections and Affordable Fares
The new rail service offers a rapid alternative to road travel, significantly cutting down commute times across the Emirates. For those traveling from the Al Yalayis station to Mohammed bin Zayed City in Abu Dhabi, the journey is expected to take between 57 and 64 minutes.
The rail network also extends to the East Coast and Northern Emirates, with the following travel options and pricing available:
- Abu Dhabi: Travel times of approximately 57 to 64 minutes, with Comfort class tickets starting at AED 39 and Premium class priced at AED 109.
- Fujairah: A journey of roughly 70 minutes, with fares ranging from AED 29 to AED 39.
- Sharjah: With the Al Dhaid station also opening, passengers can travel from Dubai with fares starting from approximately AED 19.
While the service launched with five daily round trips, plans are already in motion to increase the frequency to 10 daily trains between Dubai and Abu Dhabi.
