Station Location And Connections
Situated adjacent to Jumeirah Golf Estates and opposite the Dubai Metro Red Line station of the same name, the terminal will provide a rail link connecting to Abu Dhabi in 57 minutes. A 400-metre elevated pedestrian footbridge will facilitate transfers between the Metro and the national rail network, providing an alternative to commuting via Sheikh Zayed Road or the E311. For residents in areas such as Jumeirah Golf Estates, Al Furjan, and Dubai South, the rail service aims to reduce travel times currently ranging between 90 and 120 minutes during peak hours to under one hour. Property analysts have noted a significant increase in villa prices in Al Furjan and Jumeirah Golf Estates in anticipation of the station's launch. The facility is located on the E311 (Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road), with integrated access via the E44 and D57 highways, supported by local taxis, buses, and the Metro.
Network Expansion And Train Amenities
The broader network expansion includes the opening of Al Dhaid Station in Sharjah on 30 September 2026, followed by Al Dhafra stations on 30 December 2026 and Sharjah University City on 30 March 2027. A future station is planned for Meydan, which will connect to the Dubai Metro Gold Line. Each train will have a capacity of 400 passengers and feature amenities such as Wi-Fi, charging points, and family seating across two classes. While fares for the Dubai route are pending final announcement, existing services between Abu Dhabi and Fujairah range from AED 55 for Comfort Class to AED 120 for Premium. Tickets will be available via the official website, mobile app, and station counters.
Public Transport Integration
Etihad Rail and the Dubai Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) have confirmed that integration with the existing public transport infrastructure is a primary objective. The service is expected to benefit the substantial expatriate communities from India, Pakistan, the Philippines, the United Kingdom, and other nations residing in Dubai South, Jebel Ali, and Al Furjan, providing a high-speed transit alternative to private vehicles and inter-emirate buses.
