Etihad Rail Launches Dubai-Abu Dhabi Passenger Service
The UAE's transportation landscape has reached a major milestone with the official commencement of the Etihad Rail passenger service connecting Dubai and Abu Dhabi. On September 30, 2026, the inaugural link began public operations, marked by the opening of the Al Yalayis Station in Jumeirah Golf Estates.
The first service departed Dubai at 6:14 a.m., arriving at the Mohammed Bin Zayed City Station in Abu Dhabi at 7:18 a.m. This new rail connection offers a rapid transit option, with journey times between the two emirates estimated to be between 57 and 64 minutes.
Expanding Connectivity Across the Emirates
The service expansion also reached Sharjah, with the opening of a new station in Al Dhaid on the same day. This development ensures that passenger services now effectively cover Abu Dhabi, Dubai, and Fujairah. On its first day of operation, the service provided five round trips, with the final scheduled arrival in Abu Dhabi at approximately 7:18 p.m.
