The UAE is entering a transformative era of national connectivity as the Etihad Rail passenger service is set to officially begin operations in Dubai on Wednesday, September 30, 2026. The significance of this launch was highlighted on September 28, 2026, when His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, and His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed, Crown Prince of Dubai, officially inaugurated the new station. The leaders traveled from Abu Dhabi to Dubai as part of the prestigious opening ceremony.
A New Hub for Connectivity
The heart of the Dubai operations will be the Dubai Al Yalayis Station. Located in Jumeirah Golf Estates near Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road (E311), the facility is designed to be a major transit hub. It will provide direct connectivity to several key areas, including:
- Al Furjan
- Dubai Investment Park
- Dubai South
- Expo City
To ensure seamless travel for commuters, a pedestrian bridge has been constructed to connect the Al Yalayis facility directly to the Jumeirah Golf Estates Metro Station on the Red Line. Furthermore, the rail service is fully integrated with Dubai’s Nol system, allowing passengers to use unified ticketing for a hassle-free journey.

Commuters can expect significantly reduced travel times. The journey between Dubai and Abu Dhabi will take approximately 1 hour and 4 minutes. For those traveling from Dubai to Fujairah, the transit time is estimated at 1 hour and 10 minutes.
