Dubai RTA Unveils Major New Truck Movement Restrictions
The Dubai Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) and Dubai Police have announced a significant overhaul of heavy vehicle regulations, introducing new Dubai truck movement restrictions that will take effect on October 1, 2026. These measures are designed to manage traffic flow and enhance safety, but they will necessitate immediate adjustments for logistics companies, delivery operators, and heavy vehicle drivers across the emirate.
Total 24-Hour Bans on Key Routes
Certain critical arteries and infrastructure points will face a complete prohibition of heavy truck movement at all times. The 24-hour ban applies to the following locations:
- Al Qudra Street
- Al Meydan Street
- All marine bridges and crossings
- The Airport Tunnel
Daily 16-Hour Restrictions
For several major roads and residential zones, a strict 16-hour ban will be implemented daily, running from 6:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. This restriction covers:
- Sheikh Zayed Road (E11)
- Beirut Street
- Residential areas including Al Mizhar, Muhaisnah, and Oud Al Muteena
Peak Hour Limitations
To mitigate congestion during the busiest times of the day, specific peak hour bans will be enforced on Airport Street, Oman Street, and Damascus Street. Trucks will be prohibited from these routes during the following windows:
- Morning: 6:30 a.m. to 8:30 a.m.
- Midday: 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.
- Evening: 5:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
Exemptions and Essential Permits
Drivers seeking to avoid delays should note that Emirates Road is exempt from these new regulations. To assist with the transition, the RTA has expanded the availability of truck rest areas to accommodate changing schedules.
For companies that require heavy vehicle access for essential services during restricted hours, the RTA has provided a formal procedure. Operators may apply for a Mobility Permit for Heavy Vehicles through the RTA Right-of-Way Department.

Authorities have emphasized that these rules are strictly enforced to ensure smoother traffic movement for all residents. Logistics providers are strongly advised to review their routing software and schedules to avoid significant traffic fines resulting from non-compliance with these new mandates.
