Dubai and the Northern Emirates Migrant Workers Office announced on 9 September that it will begin accepting debit and credit card payments for five core services effective Monday, 14 September 2026. The services covered by this update include contract verification, employer accreditation, job-order processing, rehire processing, direct-hire processing, and Tadbeer hiring.
Labor Attaché John Rio Bautista stated that the implementation of card payments follows repeated requests from Overseas Filipino Workers, employers, and principals who sought alternatives to carrying cash to the office.
While cash payments will continue to be accepted, card users may be subject to standard bank or point-of-sale transaction charges and VAT, depending on their card provider.The official fee for contract verification remains set at Dh40, with no increase associated with the new payment method. In-person processing remains mandatory for contract verification at this time. Although MWO-Dubai is currently developing an online system for document uploads, payment, and tracking, that platform is not yet operational. Contract verification serves as a critical requirement for validating UAE labor contracts with Philippine authorities for various professionals, including household staff, hospitality workers, nurses, and construction personnel.
