Dubai Announces New Heavy Vehicle Restrictions for 2026
The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) and Dubai Police have unveiled a comprehensive set of movement restrictions for heavy vehicles, set to be implemented on October 1, 2026. These new Dubai heavy vehicle restrictions are designed to optimize traffic flow during peak hours, enhance overall road safety, and provide better support for the logistics industry.
Strict 24-Hour Prohibitions
Under the new rules, certain key routes will be subject to a 24-hour ban on heavy vehicle movement. These restricted areas include:
- Al Qudra Street
- Al Meydan Street
- The Airport Tunnel
- All marine crossings and creek bridges
It is important to note that Emirates Road (E311) is excluded from these specific regulations.
Daytime and Peak-Hour Restrictions
A 16-hour restriction will be enforced daily from 6:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. on several major routes and residential zones. This includes Sheikh Zayed Road (E11), Beirut Street, and residential areas such as Al Mizhar, Muhaisnah, and Oud Al Muteena.
Additionally, heavy vehicles will face restrictions during three specific peak-hour windows on Airport Street, Oman Street, and Damascus Street:
- 6:30 a.m. to 8:30 a.m.
- 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.
- 5:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
Permits and Logistics Compliance
Businesses involved in essential construction or delivery services are required to adjust their operational schedules to comply with these new closures. For instances where travel is absolutely necessary during restricted times, firms may apply for a Mobility Permit for Heavy Vehicles. These applications can be processed through the Right-of-Way Department on the official RTA website.
