Ditch the E11: Etihad Rail Launches Dubai-Abu Dhabi Service on 30 September
Commuters in the UAE are preparing for a major shift in how they travel between emirates. On Wednesday, 30 September 2026, Dubai will officially be integrated into the national passenger railway network with the grand opening of the Al Yalayis Station in Jumeirah Golf Estates.
Rapid Transit: Dubai to Abu Dhabi in Under an Hour
The new rail service promises to be a game-changer for those tired of the heavy traffic on Sheikh Zayed Road (E11). The journey between Dubai and Abu Dhabi is expected to take between 57 and 64 minutes, offering a significantly faster and more predictable alternative to driving.
On the official launch day, the first train is scheduled to depart from Dubai Al Yalayis at approximately 6:14–6:15 am, with five round trips planned to kick off the service.
Travel Options to Suit Every Budget
Etihad Rail has introduced multiple ticket tiers to cater to different passenger needs, including Saver, Value, and Flex options. Pricing for the Dubai-Abu Dhabi route is structured as follows:
- Comfort Class: AED 39
- Premium Class: AED 109
For comparison, the existing Abu Dhabi-Fujairah Comfort Class fare starts at AED 55. Additionally, a new service connecting Dubai to Fujairah will also debut on 30 September, boasting a travel time of approximately 1 hour and 10 minutes.
Seamless Connectivity at Al Yalayis Station
Located strategically in Jumeirah Golf Estates, the Al Yalayis Station is designed for easy access. It sits adjacent to the Jumeirah Golf Estates Metro Station on the Red Line, allowing for effortless transfers between rail and metro. The station is also highly accessible via:

- 30 November 2026: Zayed City and Liwa stations are scheduled to open.
- 2027: Full rollout across all seven emirates is expected to be completed, with a potential passenger link to Oman currently under consideration.
