While employed by a private company in Bahrain, Korapu was diagnosed with bone cancer, which required him to undergo treatment at the Salmaniya Medical Complex. However, the physical battle was only half of his struggle; the medical crisis brought with it a crushing financial burden.
The costs associated with his treatment, combined with existing family debts—including expenses incurred during his late father's recent medical care—placed Korapu in a position of extreme financial strain. This hardship was exacerbated by the emotional toll of being separated from his children; he had been unable to see his two-year-old child for over two years and had been distanced from his seven-year-old child due to the demands of his life abroad.

The successful repatriation of Korapu was made possible through a collaborative effort between his employer and the local Indian community.
