Brutal Murder: Sharjah Airport Manager Found Dismembered; Family Vanishes
The Sharjah community is in shock following the gruesome discovery of Alwin Prakash Kunder, a senior manager at Sharjah International Airport’s Terminal 2, whose body was found dismembered inside his own vehicle. The veteran airport employee, who had served the facility for approximately 14 years, was found in a state that has left investigators searching for answers.
A Gruesome Discovery Near the Oman Border
On 12 August 2026, a Toyota sedan was found abandoned on a road leading toward the Oman border. Upon inspection, authorities discovered two bags inside the vehicle's boot containing the remains of the 50-55-year-old victim. Forensic reports from the Sharjah Public Prosecution revealed a violent end: Kunder suffered two fatal stab wounds to the chest before his body was cut into nine separate pieces.
The victim, a native of Honnakeri in the Udupi district of Karnataka, was officially identified through DNA testing. A sample provided by his eldest son, who works at Nestlé, confirmed the identity of the remains.
Red Flags and Mysterious Messages
The investigation has uncovered a series of unsettling events that preceded the discovery. The family’s suspicions were first raised around 20 July 2026, when Kunder’s brother, Anil Prashanth Kunder, received a suspicious typed text message that simply read, "I am fine." This was a stark departure from the victim's usual habit of sending voice notes.
As the family attempted to locate him, they were met with conflicting accounts:
- Conflicting Reports: Company officials and a watchman at Kunder’s residence claimed that Alwin, his wife Tina (also identified as Teena) Kunder, and their teenage son had already returned to India.
- Passport Records: Despite these claims, official passport records indicate that Kunder had not actually departed the UAE.
A missing-person report was filed with Sharjah authorities around 30 July, with a corresponding complaint lodged with the Udupi Town police in India.
The Vanishing Family
While the manager's body has been recovered, his wife and their son—a Class 10 student—remain untraceable. Although unverified reports suggest the family may have left for India between 26 and 27 July, there is currently no official confirmation regarding their whereabouts.
As of now, authorities have not named any suspects, and no motive for the killing has been established. Sharjah police have yet to issue a formal public statement regarding the ongoing investigation.
A Family's Plea for Justice
Represented by his brother Anil, the family has approached Udupi Superintendent of Police Hariram Shankar. They are seeking assistance in navigating official channels to obtain the First Information Report (FIR) and to facilitate the repatriation of Kunder's remains to India.
