Bahrain Workers Can Now Verify Permits via MyGov App

Registered expatriate employees in Bahrain have gained a new digital tool to manage their employment credentials. Through the MyGov application, workers can now instantly verify their work permit status, validity, occupation, and the name of their licensed employer, eliminating the need to carry physical documentation.
A Digital Shift for Expatriate Employees
The Labour Market Regulatory Authority (LMRA) has officially digitized the service known as "Display Registered Employee Permit Data." This move marks a significant transition from the previous requirement where workers had to present a physical work permit card issued by the LMRA to confirm their professional details.
This digital integration is part of a broader government initiative to re-engineer services. By refining over 800 of the 1,300 documented processes, the government is responding to feedback from the "Tawasul" national system, investor commentary, and mystery shopper reports to create a more streamlined experience for residents.
How to Access Your Digital Permit
Accessing the electronic work permit data is designed to be simple and fully digital. To view your information, follow these steps:
- Log into the MyGov app using the advanced electronic key (eKey 2.0).
- Navigate to the "My Card" (Bitakati) section.
- View your integrated electronic work permit data directly on the interface.
Special Provisions for Domestic Workers
For domestic workers, the verification process remains accessible through existing channels. The "View Expatriate Employee Data (Domestic Worker)" service on the LMRA Expat Management System continues to operate. Users can check status and validity by providing their:
- Personal number (CPR)
- Passport number
- Country of origin
This service is also compatible with the MyGov app via the eKey 2.0 system.
Enhancing Transparency and Security
The digitization of these permits is intended to provide workers—including those from India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, the Philippines, and Nepal—with direct and transparent access to their employment information. This is particularly crucial in preventing unauthorized entities from operating under invalid permits.
Ahmad Ibrahim Al-Arabi, Deputy Chief Executive for Services and Operations at the LMRA, noted that the move aims to ensure ease of procedure and provide workers with immediate access to their essential data. Whether workers are in the Sitra Industrial Area, Mina Salman, Muharraq, Riffa-Buhair, or visiting the Expatriate Protection Center in Northern Sehla, they can now verify their status remotely.
For further assistance, the LMRA provides a helpline at 17 50 60 55 and an email address at [email protected].
