Bahrain Coast Guard Inspects Sa'ada Waterfront and Bahrain Bay

The Bahrain Coast Guard has launched a series of joint maritime inspections across key waterfront locations, targeting both vessel safety and the legal status of maritime workers.
According to an announcement from the Bahrain Ministry of Interior on October 3, 2026, the enforcement operations were concentrated at the Sa'ada Waterfront in Muharraq and Bahrain Bay in Manama.
Focus on Maritime Workers and Vessel Safety
The inspections were not aimed at general land-based staff but specifically targeted those working directly on the water. Authorities focused their attention on:
- Deckhands
- Engine helpers
- Fishing crew members
- Marina attendants
The primary goal of the operation was to ensure that all maritime activities comply with safety requirements and that boat licenses are up to date. Furthermore, officials were tasked with verifying the legal status of expatriate workers operating within these busy marine hubs.
Strict Regulations for Fishing Crews
These enforcement actions come in line with Decision No. 4 of 2025, which strictly regulates the number of non-Bahraini crew members allowed on commercial fishing vessels. Under these rules:
- Most commercial vessels are limited to a maximum of two non-Bahraini workers, depending on the vessel's length.
- Banoush boats are permitted to have up to six workers.
What Workers and Boat Owners Must Prepare
To avoid potential penalties, maritime workers and vessel operators are advised to ensure all documentation is in order. During these inspections, officials are checking for the following:
- Valid CPR (Central Population Registry) documents.
- Current work permits.
- Accurate sponsor information.
- Standard maritime safety gear.
- Valid vessel registration.
The Sa'ada Waterfront—a development featuring marine berths and dining facilities—and the marina areas of Bahrain Bay remain focal points for such ongoing maritime law enforcement.
