Bahrain Capital Municipality Closes Walk-ins Discover New Centres

Starting September 1, 2026, the Capital Municipality customer service centre in Manama, Bahrain, has stopped accepting walk-in visitors. This change is part of a broader reorganisation by the Ministry of Municipalities Affairs and Agriculture to improve service accessibility and distribute operational pressure across multiple locations.

  • Walk-in visits stop at the Manama centre starting September 1, 2026.
  • Transactions move to Muharraq, Aali, Hamad Town, and Riffa centres.
  • Remote channels and the Mawaeed app are available for residents.

New Locations For Your Municipal Transactions

Municipal transactions and service requests are now being rerouted to four designated customer service centres located in Muharraq, A’ali, Hamad Town, and Riffa. This change affects citizens, investors, and the significant expatriate population in Bahrain, including the more than 3.15 lakh Indian residents, as per recent bilateral summaries from the Indian Embassy. Affected services include building and technical queries, business license matters, address-related enquiries, municipal fees, waste-management services, and application follow-ups.

How To Access Services Remotely

Residents are encouraged to utilise remote channels before planning a physical visit. The Ministry has established a unified contact number, 17989898, which supports both voice calls and WhatsApp for technical assistance, emergency complaints, and general enquiries. Additionally, virtual appointments can be scheduled via the 'Mawaeed' application to avoid unnecessary trips or extended wait times. Working hours vary by location; while many centres operate Sunday through Thursday, specific timings differ. For instance, the Muharraq centre lists operational hours from 7:00 am to 2:30 pm, while certain Southern Municipality and Riffa counters observe 7:30 am to 2:15 pm schedules. Officials advise confirming specific centre hours and service requirements via the 17989898 hotline beforehand. For emergency municipal needs, the Ministry maintains the 39609331 emergency number, while the cleaning-related hotline is 80001111 and the rain emergency hotline is 80008188.
