Asian Expat Caught Burying 48 Liquor Bottles in Kuwait Desert

An Asian expatriate has been arrested in the Mina Abdullah area of Kuwait’s Ahmadi Governorate after authorities discovered a stash of 48 bottles of locally manufactured liquor hidden beneath the desert sands. The Asian expat arrested in Kuwait was caught during a police operation targeting the illegal sale of alcohol.
Suspicious Activity Leads to Desert Pursuit
The arrest was executed by officers from the Mina Abdullah Police Station during a routine patrol. While monitoring the area near the refinery belt, officers noticed an individual behaving suspiciously in a sandy region. This prompted a pursuit that led to the suspect's capture.
Following his arrest, the suspect admitted to burying the bottles to facilitate sales to customers on demand. In addition to the 48 bottles, police found the individual in possession of cash believed to be the proceeds from his previous illicit transactions. The suspect further directed officers to a separate location where he had buried more bottles just before being caught.

The operation was conducted as part of an ongoing campaign against illicit substances and was overseen by several senior security officials, including:

Severe Penalties for Alcohol Violations
The suspect has been referred to the relevant authorities for further investigation. While his nationality, age, and exact identity have not been officially disclosed, he faces heavy legal consequences under Kuwaiti law.
Under Kuwaiti Law No. 46 of 1964, Section 206, the production, sale, import, and consumption of alcohol are strictly prohibited for all residents and visitors.
Those convicted of manufacturing or selling liquor in the country face severe penalties, which include:
- Imprisonment
- Mandatory deportation under the Aliens Residence Law (Amiri Decree 17/1959)
