Motorists traveling towards Muscat should prepare for significant disruptions as a partial road closure begins today at the Al Ansab bridge (Jisr Al Ansab).

The Muscat Municipality, in coordination with the Royal Oman Police, has implemented the closure to facilitate essential road-connection works. The restriction commenced at 9:00 a.m. on Sunday, October 4, 2026, and is expected to remain in effect for five days, concluding on Wednesday, October 8, 2026.

The closure is a key component of the ongoing Al Ansab–Al Jifnain dualisation project. This major infrastructure initiative aims to transform the 15-km corridor stretching from Falaj Al Sham to the Al Rusayl–Bidbid road junction at Al Jifnain, significantly improving traffic flow in the region.

The project involves several complex upgrades, including:

  • The construction of multi-level interchanges.
  • The conversion of existing roundabouts into more efficient traffic systems.
  • The development of parallel service roads.

According to reports from the Muscat Municipality as of August 31, 2026, the project is nearing its final stages, with a completion rate of 90.17%.

Affected Areas and Travel Advice

Commuters traveling between Bausher and Seeb will be most heavily impacted by these works. Drivers residing in or passing through the following areas should anticipate delays:

  • Al Ansab
  • Al Awabi
  • Falaj Al Sham
  • Ghala
  • Al Khuwair
  • The Seeb, Al Rusayl, and Misfah industrial belt
