Abu Dhabi Launches ‘My Home is Safe’ Fire Safety Drive

Abu Dhabi has officially launched a major new initiative, "My Home is Safe" (Biiti Aamin), aimed at significantly boosting residential fire safety and emergency preparedness across the emirate. The program was introduced on 16 October 2026 to coincide with the handover of residential units at the Al Mizn Neighbourhood integrated Emirati housing project and the Al Samha Housing Project.

A collaborative effort between the Abu Dhabi Civil Defence Authority (ADCDA) and the Abu Dhabi Real Estate Centre (ADREC), the initiative is designed to provide both theoretical and practical safety training to a wide range of residents, including parents, children, and domestic workers.

Comprehensive Training for a Diverse Community

Recognizing the multicultural fabric of the emirate, the program specifically targets a diverse demographic, including expatriate families and workers from countries such as India, the Philippines, Nepal, and Bangladesh. The goal is to ensure that everyone living in the community, regardless of their background, is equipped with life-saving knowledge.

The curriculum is highly practical, focusing on real-world scenarios that residents might face in a domestic setting. Key training areas include:

  • Firefighting Skills: Practical instruction on how to handle and extinguish small fires.
  • First Aid: Essential medical response training for household accidents.
  • Accident Prevention: Strategies to reduce domestic risks and hazards.
  • Kitchen and Electrical Safety: Specific protocols for managing common household fire triggers.
  • Emergency Equipment: How to properly use smoke detectors and fire extinguishers.
  • Evacuation Planning: Drafting effective home evacuation routes for families.
  • Child Safety: Implementing specific practices to protect children from household dangers.

Incentives and Immediate Preparedness

To encourage active participation, the "My Home is Safe" initiative offers tangible benefits to those who complete the training. Participants are awarded accredited certificates and are provided with free first-aid kits to keep in their homes.

Furthermore, the initiative ensures that immediate safety is prioritized during the housing handover process, with all new homes being equipped with fire extinguishers to maintain high levels of emergency preparedness from day one.

A Proactive Vision for Public Safety

"The program represents a proactive effort to instill a culture of prevention within residential environments," stated Brigadier Mohsen Saeed Al Mansoori, Director of the Emergency and Public Safety Sector at ADCDA.

The initiative is part of Abu Dhabi's broader vision to foster a safer society and enhance the overall quality of life for all residents. By focusing on practical education, the project assists individuals who may be unfamiliar with local emergency systems or household risk prevention protocols.

While the program is currently being rolled out alongside specific government housing projects, officials have indicated that it serves as a pilot for a much larger, community-wide safety awareness strategy across Abu Dhabi.
