In a heartbreaking situation, Akhilesh Pandey, an engineer from Gorakhpur, has been trapped in a blasphemy case in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) for the past five years.
The severe consequences of this accusation have led to a 15-year prison sentence and a hefty fine of ₹1 crore (Indian currency). His father, a dedicated teacher, is now turning to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for help, pleading for his son’s release and safe return to India.
Efforts to Overturn the Sentence
Akhilesh’s father has made relentless efforts to seek justice for his son. Over the past five years, he has written more than 50 letters to the Ministry of External Affairs, various Members of Parliament, and the Prime Minister’s Office.
Despite his tireless attempts, he has not received any substantial response. Holding onto hope, he recently sent another letter to the Ministry of External Affairs and the Prime Minister’s Office, urging them to intervene in his son’s case.
The Blasphemy Accusation
Akhilesh Pandey, a resident of Bajahi in the Gulariha area of Gorakhpur, was working as a Senior Safety Engineer at Union Cement Company in Ras Al Khaimah, UAE.
The blasphemy charges against him were reportedly brought by one Sudanese, one Pakistani, and two Indian Muslim workers under his supervision. These serious allegations have led to his harsh sentencing, leaving his family devastated.
